On the 9th. of June we had our 'Open Afternoon' which included raising our first Green Flag and other events.
When 5th and 6th got into school that morning we had to put the finishing touches to our Science projects. We also worked on our presentations.
The Open Afternoon started at one o'clock and everyone was busy displaying their projects. It was very interesting. Then at about two o'clock we had too very important visitors. One was Father Breen our Parish Priest who came to bless our raised beds. It was very nice and all the school sang a lovely song which had actions too.
The second visitor was Shane Long. He raised our first Green Flag. Before he raised it Father Breen blessed it. Later on Shane was signing autographs and getting photographs taken. It was amazing. At about half past two Shane went out playing soccer with the boys and girls who wanted to play. It was very funny to watch. Then there were drinks, crisps and jelly. It was a great day and we got great weather for it too.

On Tuesday, June 9th. the school had an Open Day. At first people went into the classrooms to look at projects while we were playing tin whistle with our Music teacher Martina. Then we went to the raised beds and Fr Breen blessed the fruit, vegetables and flowers. We then went up to the top of the school and we all stood around the Green Flag while Fr Breen blessed it. Shane Long raised the Green Flag. After that Leanne and I danced the Two Hand Reel. After that we played 'The Kerry Polka', 'Maggie in the Wood' and afew more on tin whistle.
Then the school and the Parents Council provided us with jelly, crisps, chocolate bars and fizzy drinks. We went home at three o'clock.
-Mary-Claire O'Dwyer, 5th Class

At one o'clock some people from our class went Irish dancing and tin whistling. Those who were not involved demonstrated the computers to the parents. We showed them four different subjects. When that was over we went to the flower beds and Father Breen blessed them by sprinkling Holy Water on them. We sang a song and then we went up to the front of the school. Mrs Noonan and Mr Gleeson said a few words then Shane Long raised the Green Flag. Shane Long who was very generous gave the school one of the Championship balls he trains with. We all crowded around him asking him for photographs and autographs. After that we got bars and drinks and Shane played soccer with us.
