Students of the Middle Room discuss some of their favourite pastimes.
Hurling
My favourite sport is hurling. The gear you need is a helmet, a hurley, a hurling ball and a pair of boots. Our manager is Blondie. He is my uncle.

Irish Dancing
I love Irish Dancing. I started when I was five or six. I go every Monday. It starts at six or half six and ends at eight o'clock. It is in Killenaule.
After school I go to my Granny's house and she gives me my dinner and helps me to do my homework. I play at Granny's house until it's time to go dancing. I have to wear t-shirts and shorts because we get sweaty dancing for two hours!
After dancing Granny brings me home. The babies are always asleep when I get back and I'm glad too because I'm always exhausted after dancing and I can get the couch all to myself.
-Claire Egan, 3rd Class
I do Irish Dancing every Saturday. I do it in Ballingarry. Katie does it with me. Katie's sister Sarah teaches us. She is very nice. I used to do dancing with Denise Maloney but then she moved to Killenaule. Dancing starts at 11am and finishes at 12.30. Seven people go from our school. It costs €5 a day.
I know lots of dances. There are two types of shoe 'light' and 'heavy'. I know more dances in the 'lights' than I do in the 'heavies' Heavies are harder to dance in.
My favourite dance is the 'Hard Reel'. I am learning the 'Blackbird' at the moment. The easiest dance is the 'Easy Reel'. Dancing is the best fun ever.

Piano
On Saturdays I go to piano lessons. I am in Grade 1. It is a hard grade. I picked three easy songs to play. I have two songs both hands together. The third song is two hands seperate. My teacher is Treasa Byrne.
